Frequently Asked Questions

We hope these FAQ's answer some of your questions. You will find more details in Rental Info and Reservations, however we invite you to call us if you have any other questions or require more details.

WHEN DO I BOOK?
You may submit a rental request at any time. Fall and winter bookings give you the best choice for locations and dates for the next summer. New listings are always being added, so bookings do continue throughout the year. Our owners renew their listings each fall, so if the calendar for the holiday home you are interested in is still showing undetermined, feel free to inquire.

IS THE CALENDAR UP TO DATE?
The calendar is updated constantly; be aware availability changes very quickly and we do work in live time. Once we receive your request, we will contact you to confirm dates and details.

IS THERE A MINIMUM BOOKING PERIOD?
During the high season, the minimum booking period is one week for most properties. During the Low and Winter Season the minimum is usually 2 nights and a few properties rent on a weekly basis only. There is a 3 night minimum for the following holidays during low season: Easter, Victoria Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years; weekend rates will apply for Christmas and New Years bookings. There may be some exceptions when there is a last minute cancellation or if there is still availability at the last minute.

LONG WEEKENDS
Long weekend rentals are NOT usually available in the summer High Season (July and August). Victoria Day and Thanksgiving are available at most vacation properties.

HOW DO I BOOK A HOLIDAY HOME?
Select a holiday home that interests you (first and second choice), confirm its availability on the handy
Availability Calendar, then simply click on one of the links to Reservations and follow the directions. You will be contacted to confirm final availability and to complete the process. No booking is considered confirmed until your rental agreement has been approved and we have your deposit.

WILL THE HOLIDAY HOME BE HELD FOR ME?
Once we have received your
request, we will contact you to confirm details and availability and you will be asked to provide us with a 30% deposit, a signed Rental Agreement, and a post-dated cheque or credit card authorization for the balance. The holiday home  will be held for 2 weeks pending receipt of these items.

HOW DO I MAKE PAYMENT?
We accept cheques, money orders, Visa, and Mastercard. .

To book a holiday home, we require the following:
1. If the reservation is made more than 40 days prior to check-in, a deposit equal to 30% of the total invoice (i.e. Weekly rate = $1000, 30% = $300 deposit)
2. Authorization to charge your credit card for the balance + the security deposit. Alternatively, a post-dated cheque for the balance + the security deposit, dated 30 days prior to the start of your holiday.
3. A signed copy of the R ental Agreement.

HOW DO I KNOW FOR SURE THE HOLIDAY HOME IS BOOKED IN MY NAME?
Once we have received your payment and signed Rental Agreement, your booking will be confirmed . We will send you a written confirmation by email.

HOW DO I GET THE KEYS?
The keys will usually be in a lock box beside the door of the holiday home or there will be a combination type entry. You will be advised of the code the week before your holiday.

WHAT ARE THE ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES
Unless otherwise noted in the Information Sheet: Check-in is at 3:00 p.m. on the day of arrival and check-out is 11:00 a.m. on the day of departure. Please check your reservation confirmation.

Most "high season" i.e. summer bookings, start and end on a Saturday or a Sunday.

CAN I BOOK AT THE LAST MINUTE?
Some holiday homes can be rented last minute if there is still availability we require a 48 hour processing period from the time that your reservation is accepted until check-in.

Note: If your reservation is made within 4 weeks of the start of your rental period, the total amount is due immediately. Payments made within 2 weeks of occupancy must be paid by credit card.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?
Cancellations by the renter must be in writing. On receipt of such notice of cancellation, we shall endeavor to re-book the holiday home for the entire period of the original booking. If we're successful in re-booking the holiday home for the entire period originally booked, we shall refund to the renter all monies paid (whether by deposit or otherwise) less a cancellation fee of $50.00 per period booked (plus GST).

If we only succeed in re-booking the holiday home for a portion of the period originally booked, we will refund the monies paid relating to the period re-booked, less a cancellation fee of $50.00 per period booked. If we're unable to re-book the holiday home at all then all monies paid by the renter (whether by deposit or otherwise) can be forfeited to us. The full amount of the security deposit will be returned to the renter regardless of whether we are able to re-book the holiday home or not.

SCREENING PROCESS
We are handling private vacation properties and we need to give the property owners a sense that we are renting to responsible people who are going to treat their property with respect. Think of it as if we are renting out YOUR private home. Any information collected is used for internal screening purposes only.

WHY IS THERE A MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY ON HOLIDAY HOMES?
It is necessary to have a maximum number of people to preserve the demands on the water system, the septic system and to maintain the condition of the holiday home. Babies (and all ages) are considered people and are therefore counted.

CAN I OR A GUEST BRING A PET?
Holiday homes accepting pets are the only locations where pets are welcome. Owners of pets at any non-pet holiday home will be asked to leave with no compensation given for lost vacation time.

Pets are only permitted on the property if they are indicated in the Rental Agreement and approved by the property owner. All pets must be kept on a leash when outside the vacation home and renters are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Unless otherwise stated, pillows and blankets are provided, but you must bring your own bed sheets, pillowcases, towels and kitchen linens. It is also advisable to bring your own drinking water. Arrangements can usually be made to provide linens, if requested; a fee will apply. Advance notice is required.

WHO CLEANS THE HOLIDAY HOME?
You do. You are expected to leave the holiday home n the same condition you found it, including cleanliness. Cleaning supplies and a check list are provided. It will be inspected as soon as you depart, so that it will be ready for the incoming guests. Failure to do so will result in a charge against your security deposit. Cleaning can be provided for an additional charge.

WHAT DO I DO WITH THE GARBAGE?
Instructions for garbage disposal are provided at the holiday home. Failure to dispose of garbage properly could result in a charge against your security deposit.
